Amanda Thompson
Integrated Energy Healing, Yoga

Amanda Thompson is a certified Reiki Master and Therapeutic Touch practitioner trained by Dr. Ann Clark, Professor of Nursing at the University of Alabama-Birmingham Nursing School. Amanda performs energetic healing by integrating Reiki with Therapeutic Touch. Hour and half hour sessions are available at Sunburst. Amanda is a nationally certified yoga instructor holding classes and private sessions weekly at her home studio. Additionally, Amanda is offering one on one Anti-Aging consultations for those interested in life style anti-aging practices, nutrients, and herbs.

Helen Marshall
Reflexology, Aromatherapy

Helen Marshall is a reflexologist and aromatherapist. She studied Reflexology and Aromatherapy at The Heal Center in Atlanta, Ga. She has been working with clients at Sunburst Natural Foods and elsewhere over the last 2 years. Helen uses Reflexology and Aromatherapy after the Zollinger BodySystems Method of Reflexology.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a wonderful physical therapy to assist the body to be in balance and good health. It is a modality that has been used for thousands of years. It wasn’t until the early 20th century that it was brought into it present form by a physio-therapist named Eunice Ingham. While using Zone Therapy (which had been developed earlier by Dr William Fitzgerald in the early 1900’s) on her patients, she discovered that specific points on the feet and hands accessed certain body systems and organs and improved the health of her patients. She created a mini-map of the body on the feet and hands which is used today. Reflexology is also practiced on points of the ears. There are 7200 nerves on the bottom of the feet. Reflexology is a form of acupressure massage that accesses all body systems via the nerve pathways. It helps the body to achieve balance and homeostasis and relieves stress, strengthens,the nervous system,aids digestion, helps circulation, improves endocrine, urinary tract, lymphatic and muscular and skeletal health and is also a lovely way to relax. Reflexology sessions promote good health and can be an important part of a healthy lifestyle plan.

What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is the art and science of using essential oils which are the life force of the plants they are derived from, to balance body, mind and spirit. Specific oils have affinities for certain body systems and conditions. Aromatherapy can be used in the form of oils, sprays creams, bath salts,etc. It also can be used to aid immune health, endocrine health digestion,stress relief and detoxification .On a lighter side aromatherapy is a wonderful way to add beautiful scents to your home and work environments as well.
